Akola, Maharashtra, Feb 24 (UNI) A local court here today rejected the bail plea of BJP leader and Akola Municipal Corporation water works committee chairman Vijay Agarwal who has been arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of a motor mechanic Yogesh Tohre.

Twenty two-year-old Tohre had committed suicide on February 9 and had left behind a note implicating Agarwal.

Rejecting the bail plea, additional sessions judge K R Deosarkar observed that the accused, being an influential political person, could tamper with the evidence if released on bail.

The judge rejected Agarwal's contention that he should be released on bail since medical reports indicate that the youth was suffering from angina.

The suicide note by the youth alleged that Agarwal had taken Rs 4.90 lakh from six youth on the promise of providing them employment. The youth were neither provided employment nor was their money returned.
