Coop employees arrested

Pondicherry, Feb 23 (UNI) Altogether 512 cooperative sector emloyees, including 58 women were arrested when they attempted to picket the Pondicherry Legislative Assembly today.

Demanding to convert them as government employees, the employees took out a procession from the Periyar statue to the Assembly.Police stopped and arrested them on the Mission street.

Meanwhile, fire service department employees observed a fast in front of the Assembly, demanding salary on par with their counterparts in Delhi.
