Akola, Maharashtra, Feb 22 (UNI) As many as 68 hens have died since February 14 in the tehsil town of Karanja in this district, a poultry farm owner said.

The exact cause of the death is still not known, farm owner Gautam Gulde said, adding the birds showed symptoms like shivering.

The affected birds were treated with regular medicines but that did not help much, Mr Gulde said, adding there is no laboratory in the district to detect the cause behind the deaths.

Anxiety has gripped poultry farm owners in the area ever since the outbreak of bid flu in Nanduarbar district of North Maharashtra, he said.
