Centre sanctions Rs 9 cr for TN govt hospitals

Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs nine crore to six government hospitals located on the National Highways in Tamil Nadu.

The assistance had been provided for capacity building in these hospitals through upgradation and strengthening of trauma care and emergency facilities, a PIB release here said.

The government headquarters hospitals located at Namakkal, Cuddalore, Padmanabhapuram (Kanyakumari District), Tenkasi (Tirunelveli District), Wallajah (Vellore District) and Melur government hospital (Madurai District) would receive the assistance.

Each government hospital would get Rs 1.50 crore which would be utilised for purchase of two ambulances and for civil and electrical works, sanitation, communication, purchase of equipment and furniture, the release added.
