Centre releases Rs 8 cr to Maharashtra under SGRY

Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) The Centre has released Rs 8 crore as grants-in-aid for Latur and Ratnagri districts in Maharashtra as assistance for the implementation of the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) during the current financial year.

An official release here today said the second instalment of the grant is towards the Plan expenditure subject to the conditions laid down in the guidelines under the SGRY.

The expenditure on implementation of the programme with regard to cash component is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the state government respectively. The state has been asked to release its share within one week of the date of release of the Central assistance.

The SGRY was launched in 2001 by merging Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojana and Employment Assurance Scheme. It is aimed to provide additional wage employment with special emphasis on women, SC/ST and parents of children withdrawn from hazardous occupations in the rural areas. It also provides food security alongside the creation of durable community, social and economic infrastructure in the villages.
