Centre not determined to tackle terrorism: RSS

Written by: Staff

Nagpur, Feb 24 (UNI) The UPA Government at the Centre has not shown the requisite firmness and determination to tackle terrorism which has led to an increase in terrorist activities and demoralised the public, the RSS alleged.

The annual report of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), presented on the first day of the three-day ''Pratinidhi Sabha (representatives meet)'', said on the Kashmir issue, the attitude and policy of People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference had directly and indirectly ''hindered'' the possibility of awakening a consciousness of total integration with India.

''In the name of peace talks, the policy appears to further the validity of the claims of Pakistan and shows more and more flexibility on our side. It betrays a lack of alertness about the innate designs of Pakistan and security of our borders,'' the report mentioned.

Regarding Indo-Nepal relations, the report presented by RSS general secretary Mohan Bhagwat, said the government should give up its ''hollow ideology'', and keep in mind the border security and strong cultural bonds, in a bid to make Nepal a better and stronger ally of India.

Referring to the increasing infiltration from Bangladesh into the North East and other border areas, the report not only accused the government of overlooking the problem but also alleged that the government had capitalised on the issue by playing vote-bank politics.

It said terrorism and anti-national activities have been on rise in Kerala due to the ''politics of minoritism'', politicisation of the police force, and inadequate law and order arrangements in the state.

''Even cacophony of the pseudo-secular and pseudo-human rights groups have downed the voice of the ordinary people in Kerala,'' the report said.

The RSS, it said, has launched ''Rashtra Raksha Sanchalan'' to lend voice to the suppressed feelings of the masses in that state.
