New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The clerkage charge levied on cancellation of unreserved, Reservation against cancellation (RAC) and wait-listed tickets has been increased by Rs 10 for all classes, except for second class unreserved tickets, the Lok Sabha was told today.

The increase has been made to cover the rise in cost involved in processing the cancellation of tickets, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said in a written answer.

Besides, the minimum flat cancellation charge on reserved tickets has also been increased for all classes ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 30 depending on the class, he said.

The Minister said keeping the common man's interest in mind, the clerkage charge on second class unreserved tickets has not been increased. The increase in flat cancellation charge on second class reserved tickets has been kept at the minimum of Rs 10.

According to Mr Velu, the refund rules were being revised, whenever feasible, to make them pasenger friendly. In the recent past, computerisation of coaching refund scheme was introduced and amount of duplicate ticket charges were made refundable at destination.
