BSNL sprucing up service in temple town

Tirupati, Feb 24(UNI)The public sector telecom major BSNL is providing a Rs 7-crore 'Fibre Overlay Access Network(FOAN), for providing efficient and quick telecommunication services to this temple town.

A 29 km long Optic Fiber cable has been laid in the town, covering the main telephone exchanges, commercial and industrial centres, including the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD), telecom district General Manager R Mani told UNI today.

The overlay network would also provide protection to BSNL's GSM and CDMA mobile connections, making available to the subscriber, multiple services like voice, data, video and broadband services, he said.

Six digital loop carriers(DLCS) and an additional broadband facility would be located at 18 places in the town for providing these services, he said.

He said this new state of the art network, can provide an alternative route to subscribers if the optic fibre cable facility fails in one direction.
