Brass prices rise on firm global advice

Mumbai, Feb 23 (UNI) Prices of brass scrap in ferrous metal group ruled better on improved industrial demand in view of firm advice from global and domestic centres, traders at the metal exchange today said.

In ferrous category, prices of copper heavy and copper utensils remained unchanged on moderate demand. Brass utensils and brass cuttings, however, looked up by Rs 100 each due to lack of selling pressure by stockists and bulliish advice from overseas and upcountry markets.

In non-ferrous segment, tin slab and nickel cathode prices eased by Rs five and Re one per kg respectively on lack of fresh industrial users' demand, traders added.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy-Rs 25,700, copper utensils-Rs 23,200, brass utensils-Rs 18,200, brass cuttings-Rs 19,200 and aluminium utensils-Rs 10,100.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars-Rs 27,900, aluminium ingots-Rs 12,900, zinc slab-Rs 12,600, lead ingots-Rs 6,200, tin slab-Rs 395 (per kg) and nickel cathode-Rs 760 (per kg).
