Bihar active in forging Rural Business Hub agreements
Bangalore, Feb 24 (UNI) The Bihar Government has come forward to have more than 256 Rural Business Hub agreements by next month, Union Panchayati Raj Minister Manishankar Aiyar said today.
Speaking after inaugurating the Karnataka Rural Business Hubs Council here, in which over 23 such pacts were signed with panchayat institutions, he said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had welcomed such public-private and Panchayati Raj partnerships in his State.
Mr Aiyar said if a most backward State like Bihar had come forward to have 256 agreements, Karnataka should cross 500 such MoUs by March.
He said the intention of having more such pacts was to ensure a wider role for the corporate sector to operate in rural areas for the economic development of the rural folks. It was also an attempt to provide more economic powers to the Panchayati Raj institutions, apart from assigning more political powers, he added.
