ASI to open digital centre in TN temple
Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Feb 24 (UNI) The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will open an Interpretation Centre at the Big Temple here for displaying digitally documented reproduction of Chola murals, fibre glass replicas of Karnas sculptures and write ups on Chola architecture.
ASI sources said here today the centre will also house a few photographs on conservation with reference to the Big Temple and 'detached' original Nayak paintings mounted on fibre medium.
The ASI also proposed to take up chemcial cleaning of the 'Vimana' (main tower). Besides, it had requested the authorities to permit it to repair the dilapidated fort wall surrounding the temple.
