Akola teacher gets Rs 1.63 lakh accident compensation
Akola, Maharashtra, Feb 23 (UNI) The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal here has directed the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and its driver Mohammed Ibrahim Abdul Samsad to jointly pay Rs 1.63 lakh plus 6 per cent interest as compensation to a teacher who became disabled after a road accident in 2000.
The tribunal announced the award yesterday in favour of the teacher Ravindra Bhopale, who had claimed Rs 3 lakh compensation.
Bhopale and one Shankar Yewle were on their way to a village on a motor-cycle on October 16, 2000 when a State Transport bus dashed their vehicle. While Yewle died on the spot, Bhopale received injuries on his right knee and was later rendered physically disabled.
