Ajmer top gainer in 2006-07 Railway Budget

Jaipur, Feb 24 (UNI) Ajmer stands to gain most from the Railway Budget 2006-07 declared by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in New Delhi today.

Among the 55 new trains announced, there will be three trains called Garib Nawaz Express to Ajmer, which will originate from Ranchi, Kishanganj and Bangalore (Yashwantpur) mainly to facilitate pilgrims travelling to Khwaja Garib Nawaz Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti Saheb for Ziyarat. All the three trains would be weeklies.

There are three more new trains for Rajasthan which includes Jaipur-Amritsar Express (bi-weekly), Mathura-Alwar Passenger (daily) and after gauge conversion, Ajmer-Udaipur City Express would start.

Lalu Prasad has announced more extensions than new trains for the state that include extension of Guwahati-Jodhpur to Barmer, Pune-Ahmedabad Ahimsa Express (tri-weekly) to Jodhpur (weekly), Puri-Jaipur Express to Jodhpur, Thiruvananthapuram-Jodhpur Express to Bikaner, Jaipur-Agra Fort Express to Gwalior, Jabalpur-Kota Express to Jaipur, Jaipur-Kota Passenger to Shamgarh, Jaipur-Chennai Express to Coimbatore and Jodhpur-Ahmedabad Express to Bandra.

In addition, there will be 50 per cent concession for those who have lost a limb in an accident and would be travelling for transplantation of Jaipur Foot along with an attendant in second and sleeper class.
