AITUC calls for enhancing Left party members in Assembly

Pondicherry, Feb 23 (UNI) The AITUC in Pondicherry has urged the working class to strive hard to raise the number of the Left party members in the Territorial Assembly so that issues of the working class could be promptly taken up in the House.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the administrative committee meeting of the AITUC here yesterday, its general secretary V S Abishegam said in a release today.

Another resolution urged the Union Government to develop the centrally-administered JIPMER hospital at its present status. The AITUC would oppose any move to grant autonomous status to the institute.

The meeting urged the government to implement the fourth pay commission to the cooperative employees by converting them as government employees and welfare board and pension scheme for them, he added.
