Pondicherry, Feb 24 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK and BJP members were evicted from the territorial Assembly for disrupting the proceedings of the House while Chief Minister N Rangasamy was presenting the interim budget.

Trouble began immediately after the Chief Minister started his budget speech when AIADMK members K Anbazhagan and A Kasilingam were on their feet blowing a conch and sounding bells as if in a funeral while the lone BJP member shouted slogans against the government with a rope tied to his neck.

However, the Chief Minister continued his speech with Speaker M D R Ramachandran cautioning the members not to force him to take harsh decisions. When they refused to heed, he ordered the marshals to evict them from the House.

When Leader of the Opposition R V Janakiraman sought to know whether they sounded the death knell for the party or the Assembly, the Speaker responded saying the issue was treated as closed.

Mr R Kamalakannan(Cong) commented the people had sounded the death knell for them in the past and it will happen again in the coming elections.
