500 hens found dead
Indore, Feb 23 (UNI) The administrative machinery today sprung into action following report of deaths of 500-600 hens in this district's Limbodi village, official sources said today.
The poultry deaths comes close on the heels of mass poultry deaths in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district because of bird flu.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Veterinary Commissioner Rajesh Rajora said the hens had died due to marix disease and the deaths had nothing to do with bird flu.
He said the remains of the deceased birds had been sent to the state capital-based High-security Animal Disease Laboratory (HADL) for examination as a precautionary measure.
Veterinary Joint Director R S Shrimal said the deceased hens had been burnt in the incinerator. Earlier, remains of eight hens were sent to the laboratory.
