3 attacked by wild tusker

Mysore, Feb 23 (UNI) Three persons, including a woman, sustained minor injuries when a wild tusker attacked them.

Police said the tusker, which strayed away from the nearby forest area, first attacked a woman at Himmavu village, about 18 km from here, and then a village panchayat member and his relative at Kepisiddanahundi yesterday.

As a large number of villagers gathered to see the pachyderm, it entered a sugarcane field in the nearby Nanjanagud village.

The police and forest officials were trying to chase away the tusker into the forest.

The injured were treated at the government hospital at Nanjangud.
