2 regulators for Kolleru: Official
Machilipatnam, Feb 23 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to construct two regulators at an estimated cost of Rs ten crore on Upputeru major drain carrying water from Kolleru to Bay of Bengal, Krishna District Joint Collector S Suresh Kumar today said.
Talking to media at Kaikaluru, Mr Kumar said the regulators will help maintain water level in the Kolleru Lake besides facilitating fishing in all seasons benefitting about 100 traditional fishermen.
Mr Kumar said Operation Kolleru for removing enroachements along the lake was proceeding smoothly and will be completed by mid March after which the water body will regain its previous glory.
He assured islanders who lost their fish ponds to Operation Kolleru that the government was very keen on providing self-employment opportunities through SC,ST, BC corporations.
