Iran War HITS 50% of India’s Restaurants | LPG And Oil Price Spike Threatens Economy | INDIA GLOBAL
A war thousands of kilometers away in the Middle East between Iran, the United States, and Israel is beginning to hit India where it hurts the most — the kitchen. As tensions disrupt the critical Strait of Hormuz, nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply is affected, sending global energy prices soaring. Brent crude briefly touched $120 per barrel before easing, but the ripple effects have already reached India with rising LPG prices and supply restrictions. Commercial LPG cylinders have increased by ₹115 while domestic cylinders are up by ₹60, triggering an immediate crisis for India’s hospitality sector. Industry estimates wa that 40–50% of restaurants in major cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai could temporarily shut down due to cooking gas shortages. With India importing nearly 90% of its crude oil and LPG, the ongoing conflict could push inflation higher, strain the economy, and put political pressure on the gove ment.
