Early Monday, Iranian missiles and drones targeted the capital, Manama — including the area around Naval Support Activity Bahrain in Juffair. That base houses the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet under United States Central Command — a key hub for American naval operations in the Middle East. Air defenses kicked in immediately. Interceptors exploded in the sky. But not everything was stopped. Bahrain’s Defence Force says dozens of incoming threats were intercepted — including ballistic missiles and Shahed-type drones.
