Vinesh Phogat Retirement: India's star wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who made the nation proud by winning several medals at international stages including CWC and Olympics, said good bye to international wrestling following her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024.

In a post in Hindi on the micro-blogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, Vinesh Phogat said, "Wrestling won the match against me, I lost...my courage is all broken, I don't have any more strength now. Goodbye Wrestling 2001-2024...."

Vinesh Phogat's retirement is a double shocker to wrestling fans, who were already heartbroken following her exit from the final. India missed out on Gold. If this had not happened, then Vinesh Phogat might have clinched the first Gold medal for the country in women's wrestling. She stormed into the Paris Olympics finals by defeating Cube's Yusneylis Guzman in a dominating style.

She pinned the Pan American Games champion by 5-0.

In the quarter-finals also Vinesh Phogat European champion Oksana Livach of Ukraine.

The 29-year-old women's wrestler star, Vinesh Phogat hails from Haryana. She is a three-time Olympian, who represented India in the 48kg, 50kg, and 53kg weight categories.

She is the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth and Asian Games after she won the gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games.

She has also won 2 bronze at the World Wrestling Championships.
