Kohli Celebrates IPL Victory While Upholding Test Cricket's Superior Value
Virat Kohli was overwhelmed with emotion after finally clinching his first IPL title in 18 attempts. Despite his joy, Kohli, a staunch supporter of Test cricket, maintained that the traditional format holds a special place in his heart. He believes Test cricket is significantly more prestigious than the T20 version.

Having retired from Test cricket last month, Kohli expressed immense satisfaction but emphasised that nothing compares to excelling in the traditional format. "You know, this moment is right up there with the best moments I've had in my career. But it still marks five levels under Test cricket. That's how much I value Test cricket. And that's how much I love Test cricket," Kohli told the broadcaster moments after the six-run win over Punjab Kings in the IPL final.
Test Cricket's Prestige
Kohli urged young cricketers to honour and respect Test cricket. He believes that performing well in this format earns players global recognition and respect. "So I would just urge the youngsters coming through, to treat that format with respect. Because if you perform in Test cricket, you walk around anywhere in the world, people look you in the eye and shake your hand and say, well done, you played the game really well," he stated.
For Kohli, achieving success in Test cricket is a mark of true excellence. He has been a strong advocate for this format over the past decade. "So if you want to earn respect in World cricket all over, take up Test cricket, give your heart and soul to it," added Kohli.
His passion for Test cricket remains undiminished despite his recent IPL triumph. Kohli's dedication to promoting the traditional format highlights its enduring significance in the sport.
