PM Narendra Modi Meets Hockey Star PR Sreejesh And His Family

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently welcomed retired Indian hockey player PR Sreejesh and his family to his residence on Independence Day. A video of the meeting has gained significant traction on social media, showing PM Modi enjoying a light-hearted moment with the family. In the clip, the Prime Minister humorously asks Sreejesh's son, Sreeansh, "ye maarta hai (Does he hit you)?" while pointing at Sreejesh. The boy's nodding response left everyone laughing. Later in the video, PM Modi is seen offering sweets to the child.

Indian hockey's goalkeeping legend Sreejesh received a grand reception upon his arrival at Kochi International Airport. He mentioned that he would spend the next 2-3 months mentally preparing for his transition from player to coach. Reflecting on the warm welcome, which included a roadshow from the airport to Palarivattom, he described it as "the cherry on top of the cake." Speaking to reporters outside the airport, he said, "Working hard for the country, sacrificing a lot and then winning a medal, it is not just for me, but for the country."

Grand Welcome for Sreejesh

A large crowd, including several MLAs, greeted Sreejesh at the airport. People held placards with his photo and cheered as he emerged from the terminal. Following this, he participated in a roadshow in an open-top jeep. Along the route, people waved and cheered him on; some handed him flowers and bouquets while others approached his vehicle to shake hands and congratulate him.

Sreejesh's Future Plans

Discussing his future plans, Sreejesh stated that he knows what needs to be done as a player but will now focus on preparing mentally for his new role as a coach. "I will spend the next 2-3 months on that," he added.

Sreejesh bid farewell to professional hockey after playing a pivotal role in securing India's second consecutive Olympic bronze at the Paris Games. He is set to take up the position of coach for India's junior hockey team.
