Neeraj Chopra Secures India's First Silver Medal In Men's Javelin With A Throw Of 89.45m At Paris Olympic 2024
Neeraj Chopra, the defending champion, secured the silver medal at the Paris Olympics with a season-best throw of 89.45m at the State de France in Paris, France, on Thursday. However, he was unable to hold onto his top spot, as Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem stole the gold medal with an impressive Olympic record of 92.97m.
Nadeem's impressive performance was capped off by a throw of 91.79m, marking a historic first individual gold medal for Pakistan at the Olympics. Grenada's Anderson Peters took home the bronze medal with a throw of 88.54m.

After a foul throw in his initial attempt, Neeraj followed up with a remarkable throw close to the 90-meter mark, securing him the second position behind Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters on his second attempt.
Neeraj's throw of 89.45 meters was his only clean attempt in the final.
Earlier, he had qualified for the javelin final with an 89.34 meters throw in Group B, his best throw at a global championship and his second-best ever, following his 89.94 meters in the Stockholm Diamond League. This throw was the best of the qualification round, and Neeraj secured his place on his first attempt.
Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra had made history on August 7, 2021 by winning India's first-ever gold medal in athletics at the Tokyo Olympics.
