Family Proud of Neeraj Chopra's Historic Olympic Silver in Javelin Throw

Neeraj Chopra's family expressed immense pride in his achievement, despite him not defending his Olympic gold. They celebrated his second consecutive medal for India. Chopra made history as the first Indian track-and-field athlete to win two successive Olympic medals, securing a silver in men's javelin throw at the Paris Games.

Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m, clinching his country's first individual gold. This remarkable feat overshadowed Chopra's performance, who managed an impressive 89.45m throw in the second round, earning him the silver medal.

Family's Joy and Support

Chopra's father, Satish Kumar, shared his happiness, stating, "The environment is joyful in the entire nation. We are very happy that we have won a silver medal. This is the hard work of that boy and the nation's blessing is with him that he won a medal for the second time."

His mother, Saroj Devi, echoed this sentiment, saying, "He Neeraj Chopra has done very well and we will give him a grand welcome upon his return. He loves churma, so we will make it for him."

Recognition from Family Members

Chopra's aunt Kamlesh also praised his effort. She remarked, "We are extremely happy; he Neeraj Chopra did his best despite the tough competition. It's not about winning a gold or silver but about winning a medal, and he did his best."

Chopra's performance in Paris was his season's best, surpassing his qualification throw of 89.34m. However, it fell short of Nadeem's record-breaking attempt.

The entire nation rejoiced at Chopra's accomplishment. His family's pride and support reflect the collective sentiment of Indians who celebrate their athletes' dedication and success on the global stage.

Chopra's achievement underscores the significance of perseverance and hard work in sports. His back-to-back Olympic medals have inspired many young athletes in India to pursue their dreams with determination.

The celebration of Chopra's silver medal highlights the importance of recognising and valuing every achievement in sports, regardless of its colour.
