With India securing the T20 World Cup title, captain Suryakumar Yadav shared his thoughts on the special moment while the team prepared to receive their medals.
Speaking after the victory against New Zealand, the Indian skipper said the achievement would take time to truly sink in.

Suryakumar said he felt extremely happy and proud of what the team had accomplished. He also recalled that his leadership journey began after India's 2024 World Cup triumph, when Jay Shah and Rohit Sharma trusted him to guide the side.

Samson said that after the New Zealand series earlier in his career, he felt completely shattered and unsure about the future. However, he decided to stay determined and keep believing in his dream.

The batter expressed pride in having the courage to continue chasing his goal, which eventually paid off during this tournament.

He also revealed that the Indian team management and senior players offered valuable guidance that helped him improve his game.

In the past few months, Samson had also been regularly speaking with legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He said those conversations helped him better understand the mindset required to perform at the highest level.

Samson added that Tendulkar even checked in with him before the final match to ask how he was feeling.
