Elon Musk's Interest in Acquiring Liverpool FC Revealed by His Father
Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, has revealed that his son is interested in purchasing Liverpool, an English football club. The club is owned by Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which has not shown any intention to sell but has previously accepted outside investments. In a conversation with Times Radio, Errol Musk confirmed the Tesla CEO's interest in the club, saying, "Oh yes, but that doesn't mean he's buying it."

In September 2023, FSG sold a minority stake to Dynasty Equity, a US investment firm. At that time, FSG president Mike Gordon stated, "Our long-term commitment to Liverpool remains as strong as ever. We have always said that if there is an investment partner that is right for Liverpool then we would pursue the opportunity to help ensure the club's long-term financial resiliency and future growth."
Interest in Liverpool
Errol Musk mentioned having family ties in Liverpool and knowing several members of The Beatles due to their shared upbringing with his family. Despite this connection, he remarked, "I can't comment on that. They'll raise the price." Under FSG's ownership, Liverpool has regained its status as a top European club. The team won its first English league title in 30 years in 2020 and secured the Champions League title the previous season.
Liverpool currently leads both the Premier League and Champions League this season. However, the club has not issued any immediate comments regarding Elon Musk's interest. Meanwhile, Elon Musk has been involved in British politics since the Labour Party's election victory in July. He has used his social media platform, X, to advocate for a new election.
Political Engagement
On Monday, Labour leader Keir Starmer criticised "lies and misinformation" that he claims are damaging British democracy. This statement was in response to Musk's attacks on his government through social media. Despite these political engagements, Errol Musk emphasised that his son's interest in Liverpool does not necessarily mean a purchase is imminent.
The potential acquisition of Liverpool by Elon Musk remains speculative at this point. While FSG has shown openness to external investments, there is no indication of a sale being planned. The situation continues to develop as both parties navigate their respective interests and commitments.
