Women's Premier League (WPL 2024): Gujarat Giants Appoints Michael Klinger As Head Coach

The stage is all set for the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) and talented players from across the world have pulled up their socks to deliver the best for their franchise. Five teams namely Gujarat Gaints, Mumbai Indians, UP Warriors, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on each other to clinch the glittering trophy.

As part of their preparations, Gujarat Giants' have appointed Former Australian cricketer Michael Klinger as their new head coach ahead of another enthralling edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024. The first edition of the WPL was a big hit, after which, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to organize the second edition and boost women's cricket.

Last year, all matches were held in Mumbai, but this time the cricket governing body decided to spread its wings to Delhi and Bengaluru too.

Michael Klinger comes with a bag full of experience and achievements to the team. He will be working alongside former Indian captain Mithali Raj, the mentor for Gujarat Giants, and bowling coach Nooshin Al Khadeer.

Former Australian cricketer has served as assistant coach for the Sydney Thunder team in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL).

"The Gujarat Giants have a chance to do something special in Season two of the Women's Premier League. I'm eagerly looking forward to working with cricketing legend Mithali Raj, who has played a transformative role in women's cricket in India. I hope to take the team to ultimate glory," Michael Klinger said after he was appointed as the head coach for Gujarat Giants.

The upcoming edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will commence on February 23 at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium. A total of 22 matches will be played throughout the tournament and finals will be held at Delhi's Arun Jaitley stadium on March 17, 2024.
