West Indies Announces Squad For India Tour
The Cricket West Indies has unveiled the squad for the upcoming West Indies women's tour of India in 2024. Deandra Dottin, a renowned all-rounder, makes her return to the team following her successful comeback to T20I cricket. However, veteran batter Stafanie Taylor is absent from the lineup.
India will host West Indies for three ODIs and three T20Is starting on December 15. Dottin's inclusion is a significant boost for West Indies' batting line-up, which lacks experience due to Taylor's injury. The absence of Taylor, who is the leading run-scorer in ODIs for her nation, is notable.

Key Players and Squad Details
Dottin, aged 33, was a standout performer at the recent T20 World Cup 2024. She reversed her retirement decision to rejoin the T20I squad and is now set to play her first ODI since March 2022. Meanwhile, Taylor is undergoing rehabilitation after sustaining an injury, as per CWI's press release.
West Indies coach Shane Deitz expressed optimism about involving more players in franchise cricket. "We want to get more girls involved with franchise cricket moving forward and looking toward India, it's always good to play in front of the Indian IPL teams," he stated.
Upcoming Matches and Fixtures
The series kicks off with T20I matches at Dy Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on December 15, 17, and 19. The ODI games will follow on December 22, 24, and 27 in Baroda. This tour presents an opportunity for players to showcase their skills on a prominent stage.
Deitz also highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum from their performance at the T20 World Cup. "We want to take the good momentum we gained at the T20 World Cup into this series," he added. "We showed that we can compete against the top teams, which was pleasing."
Squad Line-Up
The squad for this tour includes Hayley Matthews as captain and Shemaine Campbelle as vice-captain. Other members are Aaliyah Alleyne, Shamilia Connell, Nerissa Crafton, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Shabika Gajnabi, Chinelle Henry, Zaida James, Qiana Joseph, Mandy Mangru, Ashmini Munisar, Karishma Ramharack, and Rashada Williams.
This series not only provides competitive exposure but also serves as a platform for players to catch the attention of Indian IPL teams. The matches are expected to be thrilling encounters between two competitive sides.
