Virat Kohli's Controversial Dismissal Sparks Row; Watch Video Here
Virat Kohli's controversial dismissal against Kolkata Knight Riders has sparked a row on the internet. Former players and experts have been backing the ace cricketer against the BCCI's not-so-good rules and umpire's poor decisions. Though RCB's run for playoffs in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) has un-officially ended with the defeat against KKR at the Eden Gardens in the previous game, fans have been demanding cricket body's intervention to review some rules.
In the RCB vs KKR match, the host Kolkata pinned a total of 222 for Bengaluru. During Bengaluru's chase, in the third over, Harshit Rana bowled a high-full toss to Virat Kohli, which later played with a straight bat, directly in hands of the pacer. Virat Kohli was quick to object and demanded a no-ball, but the umpire did not agree to the batter and marked it a legal delivery.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, who was standing at the non-striker's end was shocked by the umpire's decision and also raised objection to umpire out signal.
The decision was also not liked by the thousands of Virat Kohli fans present at the stadium.
However, the TV umpire revealed that Virat Kohli was standing way outside of the crease, due to which he faced the ball at a certain height. The waist height was measured through the latest Hawk-eye technology for no balls, introduced in IPL this season. It was found that if Virat Kohli had stood inside the crease then the ball would have marked its impact below the waist height. Hence, it was a legal delivery.
It was noted that Kohli's waist is 1.04 metres, while Harshit Rana's dipping ball would had its impact at 0.92 metres if the batter stood upright at the popping crease.
An after-match video of Virat Kohli and KKR players is now doing round the internet, which shows the senior cricketer talking with KKR captain Shreyas Iyer to explain what actually had happened at that moment. Virat Kohli was also moving his hand like a bat to show where the ball was at the point of contact during his dismissal.
