Virat Kohli etched his name into the history books on Sunday, February 23, by becoming the first Indian batter to score a century in a Champions Trophy match against Pakistan.

The former India skipper reached this milestone during the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy clash against Mohammad Rizwan's side at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Kohli reached his unbeaten century with a boundary on the third ball of the 43rd over, bowled by Khushdil Shah. He remained not out on 100 runs from 117 deliveries, striking seven fours during his innings.

Prior to Kohli, the highest individual score by an Indian batter in a Champions Trophy fixture against Pakistan belonged to Rohit Sharma.

The current Indian captain had scored 91 runs from 119 balls in the 2017 Champions Trophy encounter between the two sides at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on 4th June 2017.

Kohli is only the third batter to score a century in an India-Pakistan Champions Trophy fixture. Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik was the first, scoring 128 runs from 126 balls in Centurion on 26th September 2009.

Fakhar Zaman later joined him in this elite club, scoring 114 runs from 106 balls in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy at The Oval on 18th June 2017.

Alongside his century, Kohli also surpassed Ricky Ponting's tally of 27,483 runs to become the third-highest run-scorer in international cricket.

Additionally, he set another record by becoming the fastest batter in history to reach 14,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
