Virat Kohli, Phil Salt Shine As Royal Challengers Bengaluru Starts IPL 2025 Run With A Dominating Victory
IPL 2025, KKR vs RCB: Spectators at Kolkata's Eden Garden witnessed raining sixes as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a dominating victory against host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 7 wickets in the Indian Premier League aka IPL 2025's opening match. RCB openers Virat Kohli and Phil Salt gave a powerful start to chase KKR's 174 runs.
Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten half-century (59 runs) in 30 balls studded with 4 fours and 3 sixes, while the other opener Phil Salt scored a blazing 56 runs off 31 balls laced with 9 fours and 2 sixes. RCB captain Rajat Patidar also played a cameo in the chase as he notched 16-ball 34-run resulting in a 16-over victory.

In the bowling department, Krunal Pandya picked up 3 wickets for RCB, while speedster Josh Hazelwood managed to topple 2 wickets. Yash Dayal, Rasikh Salam and Suyash Sharma bagged 1 wicket each.
For Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), skipper Ajinkya Rahane hit 56 runs off 31 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 towering sixes. Suniel Narine missed out half-century by inches as contributed 44 runs off 26 balls. He entertained the crowd with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
KKR could only dismiss 3 RCB batters. Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakarvathy and Sunile Narine got 1 wicket each.
