Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, Becomes Youngest-Ever IPL Player; Stuns With First Ball Six In RR Vs LSG | WATCH
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, aged just 14 years and 23 days, made history as the youngest player ever to feature in the IPL when he came out to bat for the Rajasthan Royals against the Lucknow Super Giants during an IPL 2025 fixture in Jaipur on Saturday.
The left-handed batter made an immediate impact, smashing a six off the very first ball he faced from Shardul Thakur.

He followed it up in the second over by hitting both a six and a four off Avesh Khan.
The youngest player to be registered for the tournament, Vaibhav was snapped up by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.10 crore on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
A bidding war had ensued between RR and the Delhi Capitals, who eventually bowed out after RR's final bid.
Born in 2011, Vaibhav began showing signs of cricketing flair at the age of four. His father, Sanjeev, recognising his son's enthusiasm, built a small playing area for him in the garden at home.
When Vaibhav turned nine, his father enrolled him in a cricket academy in the nearby town of Samastipur. It wasn't long before his precocious talent became evident.
"After training there for two-and-a-half years, I attended Under-16 trials for the Vijay Merchant Trophy," Vaibhav told the Times of India. "I was placed on standby due to my age. Fortunately, I then began training under Manish Ojha sir, a former Ranji cricketer. He has taught me so much - I owe everything to him."
At the tender age of 12, Vaibhav represented Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, amassing around 400 runs in just five matches. His rapid rise through the Bihar cricket ranks quickly drew widespread attention.
He made his debut for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 Elite Group B match against Mumbai in Patna this January, becoming the youngest Indian to make a first-class debut since 1986 - and the second-youngest ever to play for Bihar in the tournament - at just 12 years and 284 days.
Vaibhav's talent was further showcased when he smashed a blistering century off 58 balls against the Australian U-19 side during a four-day match in Chennai.
He had earlier featured for India B U-19 in a quadrangular series in Mulapadu, Andhra Pradesh in November 2023 and also turned out for India A against the Bangladesh and England U-19 teams in a series that served as a selection platform for the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024.
In September, Vaibhav made his India U-19 debut in a youth Test against Australia in Chennai, where he scored a remarkable 104 off just 62 balls before being run out.
Thanks to his consistent performances and unwavering dedication, Vaibhav has now secured a spot in the India U-19 squad. A breakthrough IPL season could well be just the beginning for this young star.
