Sourav Ganguly Set For His First-ever WPL Auction, Says Delhi Capitals Is Best

Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals Sourav Ganguly will attend his first auction for the Women Primer League (WPL) today in Mumbai. Although he was involved in every aspect of the game for the Capitals last season, but did not participate in the auction of the inaugural edition for the WPL.

The team fell a step short of clinching the inaugural champions title and was declared as a runner-up.

This time ahead of the auction window, the Capitals released Jasia Akhtar, Aparna Mondal, and Tara Norris, and now can book 3 players as their replacements with a whooping Rs 2.25 crore in purse.

Ahead of the WPL auction, Sourav Ganguly in a video shared by the Delhi Capitals said, "I came in at the last minute last year. Although I did set up the women's staff and coaching and everything I was not at the auction. Although it's a small auction, we have very few gaps to fill, it's (my) first time."

In the video, the former cricketer lauded the side for showcasing a brilliant game and is expecting the same this time too. He said "Delhi was exceptional last year. Unfortunately, we lost the final. We were by far the best team in the competition but didn't go well in the final. Hopefully, we will start well again. In T20, in sports, there is no guarantee but it's 95 percent the same squad. We have got one or two slots to fill. Hopefully, they will play well."
