Sindh Governor Pledges PKR 1 Crore For Pakistan Team if They Defeat India In Champions Trophy

Sindh province's governor, Kamran Tessori, is making headlines as Pakistan, the hosts of the Champions Trophy, take on their arch-rivals India in Dubai on Sunday.

He has pledged a substantial reward should Pakistan emerge victorious in the highly anticipated clash.

The two teams face off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, and encounters between the neighbouring nations are always expected to be fiercely competitive.

Governor Tessori has announced a reward of PKR 1 crore for the Pakistan cricket team if they manage to defeat India in the tournament.

"If the Pakistan team wins, I promise to give them 1 crore from my side. That does not mean we will not appreciate the players if they lose. They are our pride, but the entire nation is hoping for a win, and we pray that we achieve it," Tessori said, as reported by ARY News.

PCB Expresses Disappointment Over India Not Playing in Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has once again voiced his disappointment over India's decision to play all their Champions Trophy matches at a neutral venue, despite Pakistan hosting the first ICC event in the country in 29 years.

Naqvi remains confident that the tournament will leave a lasting impact on cricket in Pakistan.

Although the PCB holds the official hosting rights for the event, India has opted to play all its fixtures in Dubai due to security concerns.

"We are focused on delivering a world-class event, but it is certainly disappointing that India is not playing in Pakistan," Naqvi told PTI before departing for Dubai to watch the much-anticipated Pakistan-India clash on Sunday.

"It is disappointing-not just for the PCB, but also for cricket fans around the world, the ICC, its commercial partners, and the other participating teams-that India is not competing in Pakistan," he added.

Naqvi reiterated Pakistan's commitment to keeping politics separate from sports, noting that Pakistan has toured India multiple times, including in 2011, 2012, 2016, and most recently in 2023.

"Naturally, we had hoped that India would reciprocate by participating in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Unfortunately, that has not happened," he concluded.
