Rohit Sharma Completes 300 IPL Sixes; Smashes Blitzkrieg 81 Against Gujarat Titans In IPL Eliminator

Form is temporary, but class is permanent. Mumbai Indians ace batter Rohit Sharma on Friday once again showcased that he is a big-match player. Rohit scored a blitzkrieg half-century (81) in the crucial Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) Eliminator match against Gujarat Titans at New Chandigarh's Mullanpur stadium.

Rohit Sharma also etched his name into the record books by becoming the first Indian and the second player ever to blast 300 sixes in IPL history. Before Rohit, only Chris Gayle managed to surpass this milestone as he holds a record of hitting 357 sixes from 151 matches.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Virat Kohli is following Rohit Sharma closely.

During this season, Sharma not only broke records with his six-hitting prowess but also surpassed the 12,000 runs milestone in the T20 format. This achievement came in a clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, making him the second Indian, after Virat Kohli, and the eighth player globally to reach this landmark in T20 cricket. In the same match, Sharma also claimed the title of the highest six-hitter for the Mumbai Indians, further cementing his legacy in the team and the league.

Rohit's performance this season has been nothing short of spectacular, amassing 368 runs in 14 innings at an average of 30.67. One of his most memorable innings was against the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, where he smashed an unbeaten 76 off just 45 balls, leading Mumbai to a nine-wicket triumph. His aggressive playstyle and consistency have been a boon for the Mumbai Indians.

In an interview, Sharma disclosed his approach to batting in the IPL, emphasizing his commitment to playing his role in the team without focusing on personal milestones. "Main game nahi change karoonga! (I won't change my game!) The team has given me a role, I will continue playing that. Milestones wala game nahi hai mera (My game is not about chasing milestones). My focus is on contributing runs. Who doesn't like making runs? I certainly do! I've been repeating this for years now. Pareshaan ho chuka hoon (I'm tired) repeating this same answer. Of course, I get disappointed when the runs don't come when you cannot contribute runs. You hurt when that happens. But I don't want to abandon my game. I know it's very risky, you will get out. But that doesn't mean I don't care that I am getting out or that I am not thinking about how I can contribute more runs to the team cause," Rohit explained.
