Rishabh Pant Suffers Injury During England Test, Raising Concerns For India's Squad

Rishabh Pant's injury woes continued during the fourth Test against England in Manchester. On Wednesday, the Indian wicketkeeper was struck on his right foot by a ball from Chris Woakes. This incident occurred on the fourth delivery of the 68th over, leaving Pant unable to stand and requiring assistance to leave the field.

Television footage captured Pant writhing in pain on the ground. Despite attempts to stand, he couldn't bear weight on his injured foot. A golf cart was brought in to transport him off the field. At that point, Pant had scored 37 runs off 48 balls before retiring hurt.

Pant's Injury Concerns

The full extent of Pant's injury remains unclear, adding to India's concerns. If he isn't fit for future matches, Dhruv Jurel might take over wicketkeeping duties, as he did during the previous Test at Lord's when Pant injured his left index finger.

In the third Test, Pant's finger injury prevented him from keeping wickets throughout the game. Jurel stepped in behind the stumps for that match. According to RevSportz, India captain Shubman Gill quickly went to check on Pant at the medical centre.

India's Batting Performance

Earlier in the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul provided a solid start for India with a 94-run partnership for the first wicket. Jaiswal was dismissed by Liam Dawson after scoring 58 runs, while Rahul fell to a delivery from Woakes.

Shubman Gill was trapped by England captain Ben Stokes for just 12 runs, leaving India's score at 140/3. Following Gill's dismissal, Rishabh Pant and Sai Sudharsan revived India's innings with a crucial partnership.

Pant and Sudharsan Partnership

Pant and Sudharsan added 72 runs for the fourth wicket off 112 balls. Playing only his second Test match, Sudharsan achieved his maiden Test fifty, helping maintain momentum for India despite early setbacks.

This partnership proved vital in stabilising India's innings after losing three quick wickets. The duo's efforts ensured that India remained competitive against England's bowling attack.

The ongoing injuries to key players like Rishabh Pant pose challenges for India's team management. They must strategise effectively to cope with these setbacks and maintain their performance levels in upcoming matches.
