Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is reportedly set to get engaged to Samajwadi Party politician Priya Saroj.

With his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) now concluded, the batsman is turning his attention to significant developments in his personal life.

Sources indicate that the engagement ceremony is scheduled to take place on 8 June at a hotel in Lucknow.

Speculation had previously been rife on social media that Rinku and Priya were already engaged, following initial reports of their intention to marry.

However, it is now understood that the formal engagement will occur this month.

A few months ago, Priya's father, Tufani Saroj-a serving Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Samajwadi Party-clarified the nature of the relationship.

Speaking to ANI, he confirmed that both Rinku and Priya had approached their families for consent. He further stated that while discussions had begun, no engagement had yet taken place.

"Both the children have expressed their desire to get married and have sought our permission for the same. The engagement has not taken place yet. Initial talks have taken place in this regard," Tufani Saroj told ANI.

Rinku had a rather modest IPL 2025 season with KKR, scoring 206 runs at an average of 29.42 and a strike rate of 153.73.

KKR endured a disappointing campaign, finishing eighth on the table with just 12 points and a net run rate of -0.305, having won only 5 of their 14 matches.

Despite the underwhelming IPL season, Rinku remains a key figure in India's T20I squad. In 30 T20 Internationals, he has scored 507 runs from 22 innings at an average of 46.09 and an impressive strike rate of 165.14, including three half-centuries.

The 27-year-old, who made his T20I debut against Ireland in 2023, is yet to register a century in the format.

Rinku has also represented India in two One-Day Internationals and boasts an excellent record in List A cricket.

In 52 innings, the left-hander has amassed 1,899 runs at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 94.8, including one century and 17 fifties.
