RCB Star Jitesh Sharma Faces Embarrassment, Security Didn't Let Him Enter Lord's Stadium, Dinesh Karthik Helps

The third Test between India and England was surely not a good game for Shubman Gill and company as the visitors lost the Lord's Test by 22 runs. However, something unusual also happened outside the stadium.

In a surprising turn of events, Indian cricketer and Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Jitesh Sharma found himself in a bizarre situation at the venue when he was denied entry by security personnel who failed to recognise him. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

Jitesh, who has recently been in the spotlight for his performances with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during the 2025 IPL season, was seen surrounded by fans outside Lord's as he tried unsuccessfully to gain entry. Despite his attempts to identify himself, the security staff remained unconvinced. The situation escalated until seasoned cricketer and commentator Dinesh Karthik entered the scene. Sharma called out to Karthik for assistance, but Karthik, engaged in a phone call, didn't notice him at first. Eventually, the mix-up was cleared, but the incident raised eyebrows and sparked discussion online about how newer players are sometimes overlooked.

Jitesh has been a key figure in RCB's historic IPL 2025 campaign, where the franchise lifted its maiden title by defeating Punjab Kings in the final. Since making his international debut in T20Is in 2023, the wicketkeeper-batter has featured in seven matches for India. However, he is yet to break into the national ODI or Test squads.

Meanwhile, England faced serious consequences for a slow over rate during the same Test match. The home side was found to be two overs short after adjusting for allowances and were penalised under the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) regulations. England lost two crucial points from their tally and were fined 10 per cent of their match fee. The sanctions pushed their WTC points down from 24 to 22 out of a possible 36, reducing their point percentage from 66.67% to 61.11%. As a result, they slipped from second to third in the standings, with Sri Lanka overtaking them.

England's captain Ben Stokes accepted the penalties without objection. With the series still alive, both teams now look ahead to the remainder of the five-match series.

The fourth Test is scheduled to begin on July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester, followed by the fifth and final match at The Oval in London from July 31 to August 4. England currently leads the series 2-1, having won at Headingley and Lord's, while India found some momentum with a hard-fought victory at Edgbaston.
