PM Modi Hails Indian Blind Women’s Team for Winning Inaugural T20 World Cup 2025

The Indian blind women's cricket team etched their name in history by winning the inaugural T20 Blind World Cup 2025 after a commanding victory over Nepal in the final. Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the team's extraordinary campaign, praising their unbeaten run and exceptional performance throughout the tournament.

The title clash saw India dominate from start to finish. The bowlers restricted Nepal to 114/5 in 20 overs, after which the batters chased down the target with remarkable ease-clinching the win by seven wickets in just 12 overs. Phula Saren led the run chase with an unbeaten 44, showcasing calmness and precision under pressure.

In a message posted on X, PM Modi congratulated the players for their historic achievement.

"Congratulations to the Indian Blind Women's Cricket Team for creating history by winning the inaugural Blind Women's T20 World Cup! More commendable is the fact that they stayed unbeaten in the series," he wrote. He further added that the achievement reflects "hard work, teamwork and determination," emphasising that every player is a "champion" and that the win "will inspire generations to come."

India entered the final on the back of a strong semifinal win over Australia, while Nepal had defeated Pakistan in the other semifinal. Co-hosts Sri Lanka managed just one victory-against the USA-in the five preliminary matches.

Beyond the trophy, India's victory represents a milestone moment for the global blind women's cricket community. The team displayed resilience, coordination, and remarkable sporting spirit throughout the tournament, drawing admiration from fans and experts alike.
