Pakistan Cricket Team To Train With Army For 10 Days, Here's Why

Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday shared a piece of news that surprised everyone. PCB top official said that the national cricket team will attend a ten-day training camp with Pakistan's army from March 25 to April 8. According to the reports, the Pakistan cricket governing body has decided to organize a training camp with its army to upscale players' mental and physical fitness.

However, many cricket experts raised concerns and questioned the timings of the training camp as players must be tired after the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which concludes on March 18 and the fitness camp will start a week after it.

In a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, PCB chief Naqvi said, "When I was watching the matches in Lahore, I don't think a single one of you hit a six that went into the stands. Whenever a six like that was hit, I used to think a foreign player must have hit that. I have asked the board to make a plan that gets every player's fitness up to speed. You'll have to make a proper effort for that."

He added that Pakistan has to play with New Zealand, Ireland, and England in the coming days and PCB wants its players to be fit for all the competitions, especially ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 slated for June in the USA and West Indies.

"I wondered, 'When will we train?' but there was no time. However, we've found a window, where we've organised a camp in Kakul (military academy) from March 25 to April 8. The Pakistan Army will be involved in your training, and hopefully, they'll help you out." PCB chief added.
