Open Letter To Indian Captain Rohit Sharma: Chin Up, Champ; We Will Lift The World Cup Super Soon
Dear Rohit,
Before the end of 2023, I wanted to thank you for such an entertaining year. It was a roller coaster of emotions. As a cricket fan, I enjoyed your stylish pulls and cuts. Celebrated, every time you lifted the bat in the air. But I also felt the pain of losing the World Cup finals. The pain, of standing and watching the other team lifting the World Cup, despite giving everything to the game for years.
I know what you have been going through since the team missed the world title by inches. The heart-wrenching pain can not be described by words. It was not just you who shed tears, every fan that bleeds blue cried that day.

But Champ, let me remind you that you did a superb job. You led the team bravely. Your every decision was perfect. And the Opponents, including Australia, had no answer to your bold moves.
I still get goosebumps when I recall the ten-match winning streak, you people did a fantastic job. Maybe things got jinxed when everything was looking perfect. Batters were hitting big, bowlers were almost unplayable, and the field setup was no less than a 'Chakkarvayu' or trap for the batsmen.
We, 1.4 billion Indians, were set to lift the cup with you.
But hard work done for years, for so many games, can go to vain in only a day, nobody had ever thought. The luck favoured Kangaroos in the finals, many congratulations to them, but you my friend, won the respect. I know people name legendary captains after seeing the number of trophies in their bag, but remember they are not cricket lovers. They are not the ones who clapped on every boundary scored by men in blue or whistled every time the umpire lifted his hands in the air to call six.
You don't need any critic or analyst to tell: how you and the entire team performed during the world.
You were only answerable to people who celebrated every little moment and facepalmed when something went wrong.
And the answer to every question was WELL DONE! YOU DID A GREAT JOB.
My star, my captain please don't be disheartened. I am sure that we will lift the World Cup under your captaincy super soon.
Please come back stronger, and show the world that you are the best.
An Indian cricket fan,
Today, tomorrow, and always.
