No India Vs Pakistan Match? BCCI Likely To Boycott Asia Cup Meeting: Reports
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering boycotting any resolutions if the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting takes place in Dhaka. A source revealed this decision stems from the current situation in Bangladesh, which has led India to refuse travel for the meeting. The meeting is set for July 24, but India's participation remains uncertain.
The Asia Cup's future, a six-team T20 tournament, hangs in balance as India is supposed to host it. However, no schedule or venue has been announced by the ACC yet. Rumours suggest September as a potential window for the tournament. The BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board recently postponed India's tour of Bangladesh from August 2025 to September 2026.

India's Stance on Venue Change
The ACC is led by Pakistan's interior minister and PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi. According to a source, Naqvi is allegedly putting "unnecessary pressure" on India regarding the meeting location. The BCCI requested a change of venue but has not received a response yet. "Asia Cup can happen only if the meeting venue changes from Dhaka," stated the source.
In 2023, India declined to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, leading Sri Lanka to be chosen as a neutral venue for India's matches. Earlier this year, Pakistan hosted the Champions Trophy, but India opted to play its games at a neutral site in Dubai instead of crossing the border.
Speculations and Denials
In May, social media buzzed with reports suggesting that India had decided not to participate in this year's Asia Cup and Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup due to tensions with Pakistan. These reports claimed that BCCI informed ACC about withdrawing from both events-the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka next month and Men's Asia Cup slated for September.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed these claims as "speculative and imaginary." He clarified that BCCI hasn't engaged in discussions or taken steps regarding ACC events. Despite rumours, Saikia confirmed that no official decisions have been made about withdrawing from any tournaments.
