Nitish Kumar Reddy's Father Gets Emotional After Son Slams Maiden Century vs Australia | Video

India's young gun Nitish Kumar Reddy slammed a century against Australia on Saturday in the 4th test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25). It was surely a special moment for the cricketer, but more than him, it was his father's hard work that paid off today. Sitting in the stands, Nitish Kumar Reddy's father Mutyala Reddy broke down. A video of Mr. Reddy in tears has gone viral on the internet and cricket lovers around the world are pouring in love.

Though, a cricketer's life-long hard work is counted as successful the day he or she gets the India jersey, but today's century recalls father and son's journey of struggles and sacrifices.

Talking to the BCCI.TV, Nitish Kumar Reddy said, "My father left his job for me and there has been a lot of sacrifice behind my story. One day, I saw him crying because of the financial problems we were facing, and I was like, this is not how you can be. Then I got serious. I gave my first jersey to him and saw the happiness in his face."

Nitish Reddy along with Washington Sundar steadied India's ship. Sundar also scored a half-century off 162 balls.

At the stumps on Day 3, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 105 not out off 157 balls studied with 10 rolling boundaries and a towering sixer. He is still holding the fort with Mohammad Siraj (2) batting on the other end.
