Mohammed Shami Out, Avesh Khan In: Read What Happened Ahead Of Cape Town Test
After India's defeat against South Africa by an inning and 34 runs in the Centurion Test, the bad luck continues for Rohit Sharma and co. According to the reports, experienced pacer Mohammed Shami will miss the second test slated for January 3 to 7 at Cape Town against the Proteas following an ankle injury and is undergoing rehab.
The reports said Mohammed Shami will be replaced by speedster Avesh Khan, who played well in the three-match ODI series that resulted in a 2-1 victory. Khan outclassed the host with his pace and swing in the series opener at The Wanderers in Johannesburg, significantly to the team's triumph.

Avesh Khan delivered an impressive performance, securing figures of 4/27, that significantly disrupted South Africa's batting lineup. As a result, the Proteas were dismissed for 116 runs in just 27.3 overs. India efficiently chased down the target within 17 overs, securing a commanding eight-wicket victory in the game.
Meanwhile, Skipper Rohit Sharma has asked the boys to pull up their socks and not to get disheartened by a defeat. He told his mates to remember the recent win against Australia and England and to prepare well for future Tests.
"Yes, we had a performance like this here. But, don't forget, what we did in Australia and England. In Australia, we won the series, there our batters stepped up. In England, we drew a series, we shone with both bat and ball," Rohit Sharma said.
"These types of performances happen. It's not that we don't know how to bat outside India. At times, the opposition plays better than us and wins matches. I think that's what happened here. It's not like the opposition batted 110 overs and we didn't bat as many putting together both innings. In the last 4 tours outside India, go and see our records (batting numbers)," he added.
India's squad for the 2nd Test:
Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (vc), Prasidh Krishna, KS Bharat (wk), Abhimanyu Easwaran, Avesh Khan.
