KL Rahul Will Get Love And Respect He Deserves: DC Owner After IPL 2025 Auction

Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal recently said KL Rahul will get all "love and respect he deserves" at Delhi Capitals (DC). The franchise has acquired KL Rahul for INR 14 crore at IPL 2024 Mega Auction. "I have known KL (Rahul) personally for a long time and he is a good friend of mine. He thrives with love and respect and I am going to give him the love and respect he deserves," said Jindal in an interview.DC boss' statement was taken as a jibe at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka on social media.

Delhi Capitals' Auction Strategy

Jindal openly admitted that DC initially targeted Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer during the auction. However, they had to pivot to Rahul after missing out on both players. "When we were discussing our auction strategy, the first lot was Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. Obviously, we thought that if we can get one of those players, one of them being the Indian marquee batter, then we will not have the budget for KL," Jindal explained.

He further elaborated that other teams like Punjab, LSG or RCB had more financial resources. This made it challenging for DC to secure their initial choices. Consequently, they turned their attention to Rahul as the next best option available.

KL Rahul's Potential Role at DC

Rahul is anticipated to be a strong contender for DC's captaincy role. Other potential candidates include Axar Patel and Faf du Plessis. Jindal expressed confidence in Rahul's ability to thrive in DC's environment and lead them to an IPL victory.

"I believe a class player is always a class player... I hope he thrives in our atmosphere and does it for Delhi, wins an IPL," Jindal added.

Rahul's exit from LSG came after three years as their captain. The team did not make it to the playoffs in IPL 2024. An intense conversation between Goenka and Rahul gained attention following a disappointing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
