KL Rahul vs Sarfaraz Khan: Here's What Rohit Sharma Said About Both The Batters Ahead Of Ind Vs NZ Pune Test

India's captain, Rohit Sharma, hinted at possible changes for the second Test against New Zealand in Pune, starting on October 24. This comes after India lost the first Test despite a strong comeback in the second innings. New Zealand secured their first Test win in India since 1988 by chasing down 107 runs, with Will Young and Rachin Ravindra leading the charge.

Shubman Gill was absent from the first Test due to a stiff neck. Sarfaraz Ahmed replaced him and encashed the opportunity with a well-crafted 150, registering his maiden Test century. Rohit confirmed that Gill is now fit and might return for the second Test.

Who Will Be Dropped?

If Rohit Sharma calls Shubhman Gill in, Sarfaraz Khan or KL Rahul are most likely to face the axe. KL Rahul, who earlier used to open innings for India, was included in the team as a specialist wicketkeeper and middle-order batter, who comes out to bat at number six.

Amidst this debate, Rohit addressed the situation involving these players. He emphasised that every player understands their position within the team and what is expected of them.

"Look, I am not the person who talks to individuals after every game," Rohit stated during a post-match press conference. "They know where they stand in their game, where they stand in their career. We don't change our mindset based on one game or series."

"The messages are thrown at quite early, at the start," he said. "KL Rahul and Sarfraz Khan, know exactly where they stand and what is team's requirement," Rohit Sharma added.

"It's pretty simple; anybody who gets an opportunity will have to try and make an impact on the game," he further said.
