KL Rahul Trends On Internet Ahead Of India's Team Announcement For Sri Lanka Tour; Fans Want Him As Captain

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is most likely to announce the Indian cricket team for the tour of Sri Lanka, starting from July 27. According to the reports, senior men's team selectors committee-led by former cricketer and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, BCCI officials including secretary Jay Shah and Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir will meet in Mumbai today to finalise names for 3 T20 and 3 ODI matches.

Though they were scheduled to meet on Wednesday, but later in the evening, the meeting was postponed by a day.

After Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's retirement announcement from the T20 format, and some players demanded for time out, several spots in the team are now vacant. Ace players, who were left out of the T20 World Cup team, are eyeing to make a strong comeback including opener KL Rahul.

There are also speculations going on that KL Rahu may get a chance to lead Team India in T20s. Names of Surya Kumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Shubman Gill are also in the fray for captaincy.

But what was more surprising that cricket lovers started batting for KL Rahul as new captain on social media. KL Rahul has also led the Indian cricket team on a few earlier occasions and is skipper of the IPL Franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

He is a wicketkeeper-batsman, who plays as a specialist opener in the team.

KL Rahul has played 75 ODI matches to notch 2820 runs laced with 7 centuries and 18 half-centuries. While in the red ball cricket, he has represented India 50 times. In 86 innings of 50 tests, KL Rahul scored 2863 runs with best figure of 199. He has scored 8 tons and 14 fifties in his test cricket career, so far.
