The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) announced the event on August 8 with a promotional video featuring Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas. Six teams will compete in this premier T20 event, each representing a different district. The Trivandrum Royals, owned by Priyadarshan and Jose Thomas Pattara, represent Thiruvananthapuram. The Kochi Blue Tigers hail from Ernakulam and are owned by Enigmatic Smile Rewards. EKK Infrastructure Limited supports the Kozhikode team, known as the Calicut Globstars.

The Thrissur Titans are backed by Finesse Market Link Private Limited. Console Shipping Services Indian Private Limited owns the Alleppey Ripples. Lastly, Sir Sohan Roy of the Aries Group owns the Aries Kollam Sailors. Each team brings its unique flair to the competition.

The inaugural season of KCL took place last year at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram district.
