"It Is Better To Die..." Mohammed Shami's Old Video Goes Viral

A day after Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami received the Arjuna Award from President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan for his stellar performance in the ICC Cricketer World Cup 2023, an old video of the cricketer is going viral over the internet. Shami, who wreaked havoc opponent's batting line-up picking up 24 wickets including three fifers, was almost impossible to play throughout the tournament.

The viral video that garnered thousands of likes and views is being circulated over social media platforms showcasing what he has been through and how the cricketer felt when he was accused of cheating the country and the sport.

In the viral video, Mohammed Shami answered allegations of match-fixing saying "It is better to die than cheat the country." Mohammed Shami said he respects the country and its army the most. If soldiers can die for the country then why can't we?

People who know me are well versed that I play by heart for the nation. Whatever I have contributed was always to power my side.

Notably, the allegations of match-fixing were leveled by Mohammed Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan after their personal dispute.

However, the cricketer stood tall and answered all the allegations with back-to-back outstanding match-winning performances for India. Emotions were clearly visible on Mohammed Shami's face when he received the national award. To express gratitude to the people who supported him even at the low times, Shami said, "Today I am feeling very proud that I have been honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award by the President. I want to thank all those people who have helped me a lot to reach here and have always supported me in my ups and downs... thanks to My Coach, BCCI, teammates, my family, and staff, and big thanks to my fans. Thanks to recognise my hard work..I will always try to give my best to make my country proud... Again thanks to everyone..Congratulations to other Arjuna Award winners"
